Before the trip
Our base camp is centrally located in the center of Hellesylt, close to the large waterfall. Here you must show up 15 to 20 minutes before their departure. Here you will get information and car training.
In the base camp, we also offer outdoor clothing and shoes should you need this for the trip. In addition, we also offer hot drinks and baked goods that you can enjoy es on our nice terrace, with the best view of the largest waterfall in the area. Here you can just relax and enjoy the view.

About the trip
The trip to Norangsdalen takes in total 2.5 hours back and forth, and there are 3-5 stops each in 15 minutes. The last stop on the tour will be the historic hotel Union Øye. If you have time and wish to, you can visit the hotel and take advantage of simple dining or just look around the fine hotel. Along the way, you drive in a smart car to various places, here you will automatically receive information about the route and the place you are.

About the road
Norangsdalen is a historic road that was built in the early 19th century. Locals used horses and horse-drawn carts right up until the 20th century when the first cruise ships started arriving. Then the tourists were also transported by horse and horse-drawn carriage from Øye into Hellesylt via Norangsdalen. Beyond the 20th century, the local population began to buy the first American cars and began to transport the tourists in this way.

In 1993, Norangsdalen was nicknamed Dronningruta. The name comes from when comes from when Silver Cruise ship docked in Øye, and the tourists were transported to Hellesylt via Norangsdalen.

For those who want to get out into nature and enjoy breathtaking views, we offer shuttle buses running throughout the day.

How it works

Frequent departures: The bus departs from our basecamp every 30 minutes and takes you to the viewpoint.
Quick ride: The journey takes approximately 15 minutes.
Stay as long as you like: Once you arrive at the viewpoint, you can spend as much time as you want there. Enjoy the stunning scenery, observe the local wildlife, or take a short hike. The area is perfect for those who love scenic views and light hikes.

Buses run approximately every 45 minutes.

On-site guidance

At the viewpoint, our guide will be there to provide you with any necessary information. After that, you’re free to explore, go for a hike, or discover the wildlife in the area.

Hop aboard a new, comfortable minibus at the Magic Ice Bar in central Tromsø. Meet your group and your experienced local driver/guide. Relax as your driver/guide uses their local knowledge to take you to the spots where you are most likely to see the Northern Lights.
Learn tips and tricks for finding the Northern Lights on your own. Sometimes the minibus tour goes to the coast, sometimes inland, and sometimes up to the Finnish border. The final decision is made as late as possible to maximize your chance of seeing the majestic lights dancing in the sky.
Enjoy a small group of 16 guests. Your driver/guide will be happy to answer all your questions and take high-resolution photos to share with your group after the tour.
